Dinos at the Fort Worth Zoo

Or, The Day Lucas Learned to Embrace the Camera and Be a Ham

The Fort Worth Zoo has a fun dinosaur exhibit this spring. Actually, it's more like a series of exhibits; the dinosaurs are spread around the zoo, instead of all lined up in one spot. For the boys, it felt like an adventure to try to find all of them in different places around the zoo grounds.

Fortunately, our membership allowed us to attend an early-morning sneak preview, before the place got overwhelmed with visitors when the dinosaur exhibit first opened. The dinosaurs featured in this exhibit all lived in (what is now) Texas, back in their time. It was fun to see the maps at each location showing where this particular dinosaur lived (i.e., where its fossils were found) and how far it lived from Fort Worth. Some were quite close! In fact, we hope to go see the fossilized dinosaur footprints in Glen Rose (90 minutes southwest) this summer.

The dinosaurs weren't completely animatronic, but they made small movements and had sound, so you could have fun with your imagination.
